STP Shipyard Palma receives the students of the UIB Master of Nautical Industry in its facilities

The Manager of H&S Security and the Head of Travelift at STP Shipyard Palma explained to the UIB students how to organize efficient planning of the berthing of different vessels, whether they are motoryachts or sailing yachts.

The module Planning in the nautical industry, one of the ten modules that make up the Master of Nautical Industry at the UIB, began with a visit to the STP facilities to present its management system and technical grounding.

At STP Shipyard Palma they were received by Jesús Domínguez, Manager of H&S-Security, and Miguel Galiana, head of the travelifts, who offered to the UIB students an interesting presentation about the planning and organization of the haul out of yachts. They were taught the different phases of the haul out process, which begins with the prior reservation, as well as the detailed study of the type of yacht and the specific equipment.

The STP professionals explained how each detail is studied on blueprints. Planning each movement and each system based on the unique particularities of each yacht. The main objective is the safety of people and yachts, so prior study and correct planning are essential.

Coordinating the haul out of each yacht constitutes a complex organizational operation. The experience and the analytical method allow the five STP travelift teams to optimize space and time to satisfy and give safety to captains and owners.

The students of the Master of Nautical Industry at the UIB, which is now in its third promotion, are usually young Mallorcan people who have been previously well trained and who already work in the nautical field and who hope to improve their knowledge with these university studies.
