The IPM IMG Group attended METSTRADE, the world s largest trade fair dedicated exclusively to marine equipment, materials and systems.
METS is highly renowned within the yachting industry for being the show where brands present their latest innovations and new products for the following year. Each year, hundreds of captains, engineers, naval architects, shipyards, and yachting companies meet up at the fair to see the latest market developments at first hand and get a more accurate view of industry trends.
The IPM IMG Group team, as founding partners of Balearic Yacht Destination, manned its stand and met with various companies in the industry to exchange views on the future of yachting, especially due to the increase in superyacht tourism, and to present its latest facility, Marina Port de Mahón, as a truly special destination in the Balearic Islands.
The Balearics are one of the most popular destinations for large yachts. In Ibiza, the season has recently been starting earlier and earlier. In Mallorca, which is the least seasonal island in terms of yachting tourism, there is high occupancy and demand throughout the year. Meanwhile, Menorca is a new destination that is arousing interest among owners and charter customers, who see this island as the perfect place to sail in uncrowded waters, offering more privacy and serenity than on the other islands.
In general, the superyacht industry is very buoyant in the Balearic Islands, both as a tourist destination in summer and as a refit & repair destination in the winter. Proof of this can be seen at STP Shipyard Palma, part of the IPM Group, which is one of the largest refit yards in Europe and home to more than six hundred specialised companies servicing yachts from all over the world. At METS, the IPM team had the chance to meet with many of them and exchange ideas and opinions regarding the future of yachting.
