Intense finale of Varadero Valencia I Trophy

Last Saturday the third race of Varadero Valencia I Trophy was held, in a day when which little wind was forecasted. At the skippers meeting, it was decided to delay the start of the competition for an hour. This turnedout to be a wise decision as the breeze arrived right on cue, blowing from the southeast between 5 and 9 knots and remaining stable throughout the day.

Class 1 featured Aquarelle's debut, a Frers 45 sailed by Arturo Meseguer, who won the race but was outscored by Experto from Luis Gutierrez Ramada who, with the victories in the disputed events, was proclaimed champion of his class, while the second place was Aquarelle and the third was for Ziving of Javier Arbona.

The consistency of Zas Sailing made them winners of class 2, followed by Majoche of Alejandro Fliquete and Por Fin 3, by Millán Álvarez in third place.

Class 3 experienced an especially exciting day with the duel of two identical boats: Saona, by Gonzalo Calvo - who started first in the general before this last round - and Iberolimp-Alhambra by Jose Vicente Alhambra, who took the trophy of his Class thanks to the victory on this day. The third place went to Blue Lizard by Eduardo Tur.

In open class, it has been Un mar sin barreras who proclaimed champion with first positions in the races celebrated. In second place was Tetis, by Fernando San José Gil, and in third Temptress Dos by Ricardo Llopis.

After the last day of the Varadero Valencia I Trophy, all the participants enjoyed a cocktail after the Prizegiving had been held at Real Club Náutico in Valencia by Santiago Donat, Manager of Varadero Valencia, and Salvador Bayarri, RCNV sailing delegate.

Varadero Valencia and Real Club Náutico de Valencia -as joint organizers of Varadero Valencia I Trophy-, want to thank all participants and collaborators of this competition, which has laid the groundwork for an important annual meeting in Valencia, and look forward to the next edition in which all racing competition fans are encouraged to participate.
