It has become an annual unavoidable appointment. The regatta that the APD organises in collaboration with Iberostar, began three years ago with a call for those entrepreneurs who wish to participate in an informal regatta. The objective of this event was to promote networking among its members while a fun activity is carried out .However, it has been three editions and what began timidly as a regatta for friends, has become an event that is highly anticipated by all its participants.
Eight sailboats took part in the journey that consisted in leaving moorings in Mallorca at 10.30 am to cross the finish line in the afternoon in Tagomago and continue towards Marina Ibiza to recover strength with a cocktail, appetizers and awards at the Calma Restaurant at the hand of Sebastián Escarrer, President of the APD, with the collaboration of Marcos Marí, CEO of Marina Ibiza.
Marina Ibiza participated with its own sailboat, a Frers 45 and with a team formed by sailors of great experience and above all, a lot of enthusiasm to take part in this race and have fun. However, the races do not depend solely on the strategy, the crew or the boat, but the wind is a fundamental factor when sailing. On this occasion, the calms have been a challenging factor and look center stage in the event. The first of them forced most of the sailboats to abandon the competition and start engines towards Marina Ibiza. Meanwhile, the yachts Atlant del Vent, the official boat of Marina Ibiza, surpassed the calms and continued with the competition. The will and the desire to cross the finish line exerted a lot of influence and motivation in both crews, but when they had a few hours of calm decided to study the situation since the time remaining to reach the goal was insufficient to arrive before the limit time, when calculating the miles to travel and the existing wind strength. Even so, they arrived at port with a big smile and the comforting feeling of having tried it to the end, wishing that the next edition of the APD Regatta would arrive.
The event organized by the APD continued into the following day with afterwork that offered a series of lectures at the Hotel Hard Rock Ibiza and a networking cocktail at the Ushuaia Tower Hotel.
