Coinciding with the start of the Superyacht Cup and the return of the iconic J Class to this prestigious competition, Marina Palma Cuarentena, host four of these  yachts, which, although they aren’t participating in the regatta,  they will undoubtedly be closely followed.

The spectacular nature of these authentic jewels of the sea becomes even greater when they are moored together in the dock, and the privacy of Marina Palma Cuarentena makes them stand out even more. Amongst the moored J’s are the classic Endeavour, launched in 1934, Lionheart, last year’s world champion, with its length of 43.4m and the largest of the Group, Hanuman, winner of previous competitions who decided this year to watch the regatta and the Topaz, skippered by Rom Lupik and winner of the 2016 Naval Architecture Prize of the Showboat Design

There is a great unión among the J Class owners community and these days they have been teaming up for social events. Evidence of this was the barbecue they organized last Friday at the marina in which everybody could check out the good atmosphere and camararderie the crews enjoyed. The event was a friendly and informal reunion between friends and crews from other J Class yachts.

These yachts are already attractive in themselves moored in their berths, but for a few days you can witness two of these giants of the J Class offering a beautiful show in the Bay of Palma. Since the J Class was reborn in the early 2000’s through the J Class Association, these fast and elegant boats are the focus of attraction in any port they visit. And they know it! As expressed by one of the captaing, Luke Bines of Endeavour, he feels inredibly fortunate to work in such a beautiful and iconic sailing yacht.

Some of the J Class are currently used as a chárter and recreational yacht, although they also participate in regattas such as the St Barths Bucket Regatta, which celebrated its last edition in March of this year, the Superyacht Cup Palma that will begin in a few days, the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup to be held in September and Les Voiles de St Tropez to be held the first days of October.

During the summer season, the Balearic Islands are one of its most visited destinations to such an extent that some captains consider Mallorca to be their home during the winter.
